what we accept

Based on inventory needs, our list of accepted and not accepted items occasionally changes.

If you have an item you want to donate but you aren't sure if we will take it, just give us a call at 317.344.3033. Our ReStore Staff will gladly answer any questions you have.

Currently Accepting

We accept donations of working items in good quality in the following categories.

Appliances

5 years old or newer; Must be in working condition; Must have all parts

  • Dishwashers

  • Dryers

  • Freezers

  • Microwaves

  • Refrigerator

  • Small Appliances

  • Stoves/Ranges

  • Washing Machines

  • Window AC units – new or unused
     

Bath

Vanities must be complete with doors and drawers; Sinks must be free of chips/cracks and rust/corrosion

  • Bathroom Vanities

  • Framed Mirrors

  • Medicine Cabinets

  • New Shower Stalls, Bases and Pan 

  • Pedestal Sinks

 

Building Supplies

All sheets and lumber must be free of rot, water damage, nails, and warping; 4’ minimum length

  • Decking Materials – 100 sq ft +

  • Insulation - new and in original packaging

  • Plywood – at least 4’x4’ in length

  • PVC/Copper piping

  • Roofing materials

  • Unused Lumber - at least 4' long

 

Cabinets/Countertops

All cabinets/countertops must be free of water damage and mold

Cabinets need all drawers and doors

  • Cabinet Sets

  • Granite/Marble/Quartz Countertops

  • Single Cabinets

 

Doors and Windows

Doors must be free of water damage, rotten wood, and damage

  • Double Pane Vinyl Windows w/ jamb (new)

  • Exterior Doors

  • Interior Doors

  • Shower Doors – new and in box

  • Storm Doors
     

Home Decor

  • Artificial plants

  • Artwork/Frames

  • Baskets

  • Decorative pillows

  • Framed mirrors

 

Flooring

All carpet and rugs must be clean and free of odors, rips, stains, and tears

  • Complete boxes of tile - at least 100 sq ft

  • Complete boxes of hardwood flooring – at least 100 sq ft

  • Complete boxes of laminate flooring – at least 100 sq ft

  • New or gently used area rugs

  • Used Flooring -at least 100 Square Feet with no nails

 

Furniture

Must be free of rips, stains, tears and pet dander;  Items must be broken down and ready for transport

  • Bed Frames (twin, full, queen)

  • Outdoor furniture

  • Sofas

  • Recliners

  • Rolling Desk Chairs

  • Upholstered Chairs

  • Wood or Metal Furniture: tables, dressers, bookcases, chairs, sideboards, etc
     

Lighting

Light Fixtures and fans must be complete with hanging brackets; 

Light Globes need to be free of cracks or damage

  • Ceiling Fans (Must be assembled)

  • Interior and Exterior Fixtures

  • Lamps
     

Plumbing and Sinks

All plumbing items must complete with all hardware; Sinks must be free of rust/corrosion, chips/cracks, and caulking/glue

  • Faucets

  • Kitchen sinks

  • Under-mount sinks

 

Tools and Hardware

Power Tools must be in working condition without frayed cords.

Battery Tools need to have working batteries and chargers included

  • Cabinet pulls

  • Door hardware (non-brass)

  • Hand tools

  • Lawn and garden tools

  • Power tools (battery only, no gas)

Some items are not sellable. Due to high handling and disposal costs, we can not accept the following items. This list applies to both truck pickups and drop offs.

  • Area rugs with rips, stains, odors or excessive wear

  • Individual/small amount of flooring pieces that is less than 100 sq ft

  • Partial packages or boxes of flooring or tile

  • Bed frames (any size)

  • China hutches 

  • Cribs/Playpens

  • Desks (larger than 2’x4’ or executive style)

  • Entertainment centers

  • File cabinets

  • Office furniture

  • Mattresses and box springs

  • Particle board/MDF/pressed wood furniture

  • Sectionals (larger than couch/loveseat equivalent size)

  • Sleeper sofas/pullout couches

Our ability to accept specific items can change depending on the following and other conditions:

  • We may have more of a certain item than we need or have room to store/display.

  • If it only fits with certain sizes, brands, or models it may not be resellable.

  • Dirty, damaged, broken items, do not sell well. If it needs just a little cleaning or repair, please do that before donating.

  • Sometimes we just don't have enough room.

  • Some items are too fragile, or potentially dangerous to employees, volunteers and customers.
