This was a huge blessing for our family & we can't say thank you enough!

We have met many wonderful, caring & knowledgeable people along this journey
who have definitely inspired us to give back and volunteer.
Thanks again to everyone for this successful team effort - we appreciate it more than you know!"

The Habitat Boone County Repair program is designed to aid Boone County homeowners with exterior home preservation repairs. Simple tasks like repairing a shutter, painting the porch railing, or trimming overgrown landscape plants may prove too physically demanding for a homeowner. The Repair Team will have the necessary tools and know-how to repair the homeowner's property.

Am I Eligible?

A homeowners may qualify for the Repair program if you meet all of the following criteria:

  • You must own and live in your home full-time in Boone County

  • There must be an identified need for the requested repairs

  • Your property taxes, mortgage, and insurance  must all be current

  • You meet program gross income guidelines

What is the Cost?

First, a qualified construction representative will come to assess your work project. A total cost will be determined based on required materials, and any contract labor that may be necessary.

Having calculated the repair cost, the homeowner's portion will be determined bases on a sliding scale figuring the Area Median Family Income (AMFI), and the household income. The project will need to be paid in full before work begins.

In addition to the dollar amount, homeowners are required to participate in the form of "sweat equity". The number of hours is dependent on scope and nature of the project.

What Work is Done?

A Construction representative from HFHBC will prepare a list of the requested home repairs. It may include any of the following:

  • Landscape care - pruning, cleanup and mulching

  • Exterior painting

  • Siding repair

  • Power washing exterior surfaces

  • Gutter repair, cleaning and/or installation of gutter screens

  • Concrete work: repair or installation of sidewalks

  • Ramps and rails outside the house

  • Other repairs may be considered

Work will not include any interior or extensive exterior projects such as structural modifications or work to correct previous construction flaws. Also, not included is remediation of any environmental hazard (mold, Radon, asbestos, lead, etc.)

How Do I Apply?

HFHBC will accept application inquiry phone calls or emails and will schedule appointments with the applicant to conduct a home repair assessment.

Here are the Steps:

  • Email repair@boonehabitat.org or call HFHBC at 765-483-5134 to request an application

  • Once the application is received and the home assessment complete, a HFHBC representative will prepare an estimated overall cost of the project, as well as the dollar amount expected from the homeowner.

  • Once the homeowner qualifications have been satisfied and complete payment has been received, the work will be scheduled.
